As a psychotherapist I recognize and respect the healing power of a trusting therapeutic relationship. As such, I offer not only a caring and compassionate but also an enquiring atmosphere, so as to promote and provide an emotionally safe space for inner exploration of difficult feelings, experiences and challenges.
In my work I employ the gentle aim of the humanistic approach and the guidance of the psychodynamic process. In other words, I help clients examine their distress by bringing up and working through their experiences, issues or concerns in an effort to understand and clarify their current beliefs, emotions, and behaviours as they relate to personal decisions and intimate relationships.
Additionally, I endeavour to help clients realize their potential for inner development and self-directed growth. To that end, I employ different techniques, such as focusing, imagery or mindfulness. Ultimately, my goal in therapy is to facilitate and accommodate lasting change, and help clients reclaim their ability to make mindful choices and decisions, and to regain control over their own lives.
